Chandler selects new Assistant City Manager

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler City Manager Marsha Reed announced that Josh Wright has been hired as an Assistant City Manager. He will fill the position vacated by Reed when she was appointed to the position of City Manager in April 2016.

"This is a critical leadership position, and I am excited for Josh to work with the Mayor and Council and the City’s executive management team to build upon our impressive successes," Reed said. "Josh offers the skills and professional experience to ensure we continue to deliver outstanding service for Chandler residents."

Wright has been the town manager of Wickenburg, Arizona, since 2011 and oversees six departments and the town clerk in that role. Prior to that, he worked at the Town of Marana for five years as assistant to the town manager and director of strategic initiatives.

Wright is a past president of the Arizona City/County Management Association and received the Associate’s Award for Excellence in Leadership in 2010. He also was named Economic Developer of the Year by the Arizona Association for Economic Development in 2011. He holds a Master in Public Administration and undergraduate degrees from the University of Arizona.

The Assistant City Manager provides administrative guidance to ensure the activities of City departments, divisions and projects fulfill the policies and goals of the City Manager and City Council. The position also provides information to support decision-making and policy direction by the City Council.

He will begin his new post in Chandler on May 1, 2017.
