Three women veterans share their stories about going to war
More than 64,000 American women served in the conflicts in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan and three local veterans of these wars will share their stories when the downtown Chandler Public Library presents “She Went to War: Women’s Stories of Military Service,” from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 11, 2017. This presentation is part of the Library’s ongoing America in Times of Conflict speaker series and will be held in the Copper Room of the Downtown Library, 22 S. Delaware Street.
This three-person panel will be moderated by Colonel Wanda Wright, director of the Arizona Department of Veteran’s Services, and will feature:
  • Sue Wudy, U.S. Army, served in Vietnam as a stenographer in Saigon for Joint Command for Operations, 1969 – 1970.
  • Cheryl Rinehart, U.S. Marines, served as a Chemical, Biological and Nuclear Defense Specialist in Iraq, 2003 – 2007.
  • Jenna Rohr Pursley, U.S, Army 101st Airborne Division, served as a medic in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, 2008 – 2012.
“We are so grateful to have these three amazing women share their personal stories with our attendees,” said Chandler Administrative Librarian Mary Sagar. “This program allows us to recognize Women’s History Month and gain insight into the experiences of women from our community. We honor their service.”
America in Times of Conflict is made possible through a grant from the Arizona State Library to the Chandler Public Library under the Library Services and Technology Act, which is administered by the Institute of Museum and Library services.
