Holiday closures, trash collection schedule for Independence Day holiday

CHANDLER, Ariz. – Chandler city offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, in observance of Independence Day. Offices will be open on Monday, July 3, except for the City’s Passport Office. Below is a look at the City of Chandler service hours on the 4th of July:
  • City administrative offices will be closed.
  • Recycling and trash collection schedules will be affected the week of July 3-8, due to the Independence Day holiday, as no collection will occur July 4. Place your container at the curb before 6 a.m. to ensure service is not interrupted. Leave your container at the curb until emptied.
  • If your collection day is Monday, there is no change to the schedule. If your collection day is Tuesday, it will be collected on Wednesday, July 5. If your collection day is Wednesday, it will be collected on Thursday, July 6. If your collection day is Thursday, it will be collected on Friday, July 7. Friday collection will occur on Saturday, July 8.
  • Recycling and trash is collected on all holidays except July 4, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day. If these holidays fall on a week day, collection rolls over to the next day through Saturday.
  • The Tumbleweed Recreation Center (TRC) at Tumbleweed Park will be open normal business hours from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, July 3. On Tuesday, July 4, all recreation facilities will be closed.
  • The Recycling-Solid Waste Collection Center is open Monday, July 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and all City observed holidays (including July 4th). Hours of operation will resume on Thursday, July 6, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • The Environmental Education Center, Snedigar Recreation Center, Senior Center and downtown Community Center will be closed on July 4.
  • All Chandler Public Libraries (Downtown, Basha, Hamilton, Sunset) will be closed.
  • The Chandler Museum at the McCullough-Price House will be closed.
  • All Chandler pools -- Arrowhead Pool and the Desert Oasis, Hamilton, Mesquite Groves and Nozomi Aquatic Centers, and Folley Pool -- will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4.
Just as a reminder: Chandler’s July 4th Fireworks Spectacular returns with a revolutionary party in the park. Red. White. Boom. Chandler’s signature Independence Day celebration, July 4th Fireworks Spectacular, returns to Tumbleweed Park, Tuesday, July 4, with free family fun from 5-10:30 p.m. The Fireworks Spectacular Show begins at 9 p.m. and is presented by Cold Beers and Cheeseburgers. This Independence Day holiday, know the rules covering the sale, purchase and use of fireworks within Chandler city limits.
The Chandler Fire, Health & Medical (CFHM) Department is reminding residents that while some types of fireworks are legal to sell and purchase at local businesses, the use and misuse of fireworks can lead to personal injury, injury to others, harm to pets, property damage, and destruction of the environment.
Under Arizona law, the sale of permissible consumer fireworks is allowed from May 20 through July 6. The use of permissible consumer fireworks is allowed June 24 through July 6, on private property, with the permission of the property owner.
Chandler prohibits the use of permissible consumer fireworks on any public property, including City-owned or managed land, buildings and facilities. This includes public parks, public school facilities, public retention basins, and public roads and streets within Chandler City limits. For complete details, visit
