Chandler Fire, Health & Medical Department open house Oct. 14 at Fire Station No. 6

Chandler Fire Station No. 6 at Ray Road, west of McQueen RoadChandler Fire, Health & Medical (CFHM) is holding a free open house for the public from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, at Fire Station No. 6, 911 N. Jackson St. The event is part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to educate residents about the services provided by CFHM and to share safety, fire prevention and emergency preparedness information with the public. The event marks the end of National Fire Prevention Week, which has the 2017 theme, “Every Second Counts: Plan 2 Ways Out.”

In addition to tours of the station, there will be fire truck, ambulance and apparatus displays, demonstrations of emergency medical services, drowning prevention information and free blood pressure checks. In the Fire Safety House display, children will get hands-on instruction on how to get out of a smoke-filled environment. Free balloons and fire helmets will be available for children.

Throughout the event, CFHM staff will be available to talk about the Crisis Response volunteer program, Smoke Alarm program, and Fire Cadet Program. This open house will also feature instruction on Hands-OnlyTM CPR, which when performed by a bystander has been shown to be as effective as “conventional” CPR in emergencies that occur at home, work or in public. There are only two steps to remember: Call 911 and push hard and fast in the center of the chest.

Fire Station No. 6 is located west of McQueen Road, just south of Ray Road. For more information about the open house, please call 480-782-2120, or go online to chandleraz.gov/fire.
