Annual street sealing program returns to Chandler streets

Beginning this month, 76 miles of City streets will be resurfaced as part of an annual slurry seal project.
Southwest Slurry Seal, Inc. is performing the work, which will continue into summer. Slurry seal is an asphalt emulsion mixed with aggregate that corrects surface irregularities, improves skid resistance and protects the pavement from oxidation and water damage. The work will occur on streets located in a number of Chandler neighborhoods, including:

--  San Vicente and Ashley Park in north Chandler
--  Cross Creek and The Springs in central Chandler
--  Carino Estates, Fox Crossing and Pecos Ranch Estates in southwest Chandler
--  Saguaro Canyon, Rockwood Estates and Cooper Commons in south Chandler

In addition to local streets, several major arterials will be slurry sealed, including McClintock Drive between Chandler Boulevard and the Loop 202 Santan Freeway, McQueen Road between Riggs Road and Westchester Drive, Lindsay Road and Val Vista Drive between Riggs and Hunt Highway, and Riggs between Cooper and McQueen roads.
Advance notice in the form of door hangers will be distributed to homes and businesses along streets to be sealed. The notice will ask that cars not be parked along the street so that sealant can be applied unobstructed.
