Campfire at Chuck Wagon Cook-offCity seeks vendors for ninth annual Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off at Tumbleweed Ranch on Nov.10
Chandler’s annual family-friendly culinary competition, the Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off, is inviting vendors to participate in the 2018 event at Tumbleweed Ranch on Saturday, Nov. 10. Vendors who specialize in food and beverages, merchandise, artist sales and farmers markets, along with non-profit organizations, businesses and companies with informational booths are invited to participate.
Now in its ninth year, the Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off has been hailed as one of the best cooking events in the Valley by True West Magazine and Phoenix New Times. It features teams working from authentic chuck wagons as they cook in the style of 1880s cattle drives. This City of Chandler event is produced by Chandler Museum and its support organization, Pardners of Tumbleweed Ranch.
Preference will be given to vendors who specialize in cooking, local foods, Western art, and other old-west or history-related items. The deadline to submit a vendor application is 5 p.m., Friday, August 31. Vendor applications are available online at, or by calling Mary Ellen Crane at 602-291-9233.
The period dress and equipment, music, tastes, and smells at this event transport guests back in time and provide a rare, up-close look at the Old West lifestyle. Using historic cooking methods, the authentic 1880s chuck wagon teams from around the west prepare five-course meals, and share the history of food and life on cattle drives. Judges decide winners in several meal course categories and select a best overall meal. A limited number of chuck wagon lunches are available for purchase on the morning of the event. Participating vendors provide additional food and beverage options for event guests.
This year’s event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Along with the chuck wagons, there will be local musical entertainment, a junior cooking clinic, and an awards ceremony. Last year, more than 2,000 people attended on Saturday.
The Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off at Tumbleweed Ranch is held within Tumbleweed Park, which is on the southwest corner of McQueen and Germann roads. More information about the Chandler Chuck Wagon Cook-Off can be found online at, or by calling 480-782-2751.
